RTL Equipment, Inc. was formed in 1989 when Lindsay and John Bergdale started RTL Machinery in Iowa  in order to purchase and sell construction equipment.  RTL Machinery evolved  into Storey-Bergdale Company, L.C. in 1994. The company was transformed into RTL Equipment, Inc. in 2000.  It has grown from a small company selling used equipment into a full-sized regional dealership selling several brands of new equipment in addition to all types of used machinery. RTL Equipment, Inc. also maintains a full service and parts operation.

The company headquarters in Grimes, IA consists of a purpose -built, 10,000 square foot facility including office staff, three service bays, an extensive parts department, and a large equipment yard. Currently, RTL Equipment, Inc. has branches in Cedar Rapids, IA and Gretna, NE, and an equipment yard in East Moline, Il.
