RTL Equipment Assists with Route 141 Project

May. 23 2023 News By RTL Equipment

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) partnered with Pace, AECOM Technical Services, Kuesel Excavating Company, Inc., and Lochmueller Group to undergo a $25 million improvement design build project for Route 141 at 1-44 in St. Louis, and they needed RTL's help. With over 50,000 cars and trucks using this road every day, the MoDOT hopes this project will help improve traffic flow and increase driver safety by reducing accidents that frequent this area. We at RTL Equipment were thrilled to offer up the equipment MoDOT needed to complete this project.

Route 141 Improvement Design Build Project

This design project began in June of 2016 and is set to be completed by July 2018. The MoDOT was impressed with Pace's project plan that focused on driver safety and mobility. Pace claims that with this project, delay during morning commutes will drop by 50{afc76108275bc3567013c4f9294c873f7102abf1fed72fe6765460a4b3f8f3fa} and delays during the afternoon will drop by 67{afc76108275bc3567013c4f9294c873f7102abf1fed72fe6765460a4b3f8f3fa}. Pace also submitted an Environmentally Responsible Construction Technique plan to ensure that this project is productive and beneficial for drivers and for the environment. So far, almost all of the concrete for this project has been recycled and put back into the new fills the project is producing, and all of the old asphalt is returning back to the plant to be recycled for future use. ThrU turns were successfully installed last summer in this area and will assist in increasing

the ease of traffic flow once the full project is completed. While this project has had to overcome many challenges including two railroads, a high voltage transmission, and major fiber optic gas and utility lines running through the area of the project, along with a large flood last May that halted production for several weeks, MoDOT and its partners have marched on and worked overtime through a mild winter to ensure this project will be finished by its projected July 15, 2018 completion date.

RTL Equipment - Terex Crawler Crane

Tom Schilly, Pace's equipment manager, reached out to RTL Equipment for the rental of a Terex HC110 Lattice Crawler Crane to help make sure their large project gets completed on time. This Terex Crane can lift up to 110 tons, has a 150' boom, and a single sheave boom point extension. With a four piece removable counterweight system, the Terex HC110 crawler crane is one of the most efficient and transportable cranes available and a valuable piece of equipment for the Route 141 project.
